RUN FOR the 2026-2027 NSWS BOARD!
Interested students must be in good academic standing and willing to engage in self-directed NSWS activities throughout the school year. The term begins July 1 and ends June 30th.
President: Chairperson of the board, calls and leads meetings, creates and disseminates meeting agendas at least one week prior to the meeting, submits the annual NSWS constituency application, serves as a member of the Finance Committee, serves as an Ex-Officio member of all committees except the Nominations Committee, represents NSWS in all matters to professional and student nursing organizations.
Vice President: Fills in for the President when needed, ascends to the President role in the event of a vacancy (until the next election), serves as an advisor to the President, leads other special projects as needed.
Secretary: Takes minutes at each meeting and distributes draft minutes for approval, sends approved minutes to NSNA as required, ensures board roster is accurate and complete, serves as a member of the Finance Committee.
Treasurer: Chairs the Finance Committee, creates NSWS budgets with assistance, serves as custodian of NSWS funds, keeps accurate records of monies received and distributed, prepares financial reports for NSWS meetings as requested, files tax paperwork annually.
Directors East/West: Represents student nursing interests on the west and east sides of the Cascade range. Serves as liaison between NSWS and nursing schools in their respective areas.
Communications Director: Manages NSWS media assets (Facebook, Instagram, website, etc), editor of the NSWS newsletter, markets NSWS to others, promotes the positive image of professional nursing, manages publicity for Convention.
Breakthrough to Nursing Chair: chairs the Breakthrough to Nursing Committee.
Nominations and Elections Chair: Oversees canvassing for future officers and manages the nominations/consent to serve/elections process. Presents the initial slate to NSWS at the annual business meeting.
