NSWS is the only statewide student nursing association in Washington State. Formerly known as SWANS, NSWS was developed in early 2007 by dedicated nursing students and faculty from around the state who believe in unifying the voices and philosophies of Washington State nursing students in order to work towards the common goal of betterment and advancement of nursing as a profession.
NSWS membership is open to everyone enrolled in an accredited Washington State nursing school at all levels, nursing school faculty and pre-nursing students.
Nursing Students of Washington State is the state chapter of the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA) and an independent organization supported in part by the Washington State Nurses Association (WSNA) .
Join us Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. for the annual NSWS Convention at the Lake Washington Technical Institute (Kirkland campus). Registration for NSWS member is $25 and for non members it is $35. The agenda will include a sessions on Resume Building, a Residency Panel and a Specialty Panel. Jennifer Graves, MSN, RN, CEO of Swedish Edmonds, will be the keynote speaker.
To develop a collaborative and cooperative structure between nursing schools within the state to create consistent high standards that support nursing students through education, scholarship, legislation and networking.
To contribute collectively to the advancement of nursing education in order to promote the highest standards and best practices for nursing students in the state of Washington.
- To build a cooperative structure between nursing schools and professional organizations within the state to provide programs and events that address fundamental and current professional interests and issues.
- To encourage and support every nursing student in his or her personal and professional growth and to maintain a dialogue that allows for prioritization of issues and a common agenda.
